4 Types of Visual Content for Your Marketing

With the rise of the internet, and its accessibility through the prevalence of digital mobile devices, it is no surprise that visual content is being increasingly used in marketing to engage the everyday customer.

For example, there are 1,500 stories on average that could appear in someone’s News Feed when they log onto Facebook. As for those who have many friends or Page likes, as many as 15,000 potential feeds could appear.

Competing for customer attention, you need to present them with easy-to-digest, visually attractive content as part of your marketing strategy.

1 – Visual Images & Photography

The first step with Visual Content is using photos or images as part of your marketing, it could be as simple as a logo or some photos of your products. You want your customers to visually connect and identify with your business.

However, it is crucial to use high-quality images; low resolution, fuzzy photographs, or irrelevant images can do more harm than good. If you don’t have time to generate your own, try photo-sharing or stock photo sites that offer good quality images for free, or for a small fee.

Check that you’re complying with copyright as well. Many businesses also use screenshot images to show how their product works, or capture client reviews visually, and use those images for their marketing.

2 – Presenting Data with Infographics

Moving on from simple imagery and photos is the form of information graphics or Infographics.

Previously we talked about the reason we should use Infographics, a recap is that our human minds are wired for visuals and the fact that we process visuals 60,000x faster than text in our brains!

Infographics are especially useful when you have to present data or statistics, so instead of having long boring paragraphs of text and numbers in your next article, try presenting some of the data in the form of an Infographic to make things a lot more interesting and easily digestible!

3 – Motion Pictures & Videos

Another powerful visual presentation is through videography. There are many advantages in using Videos, you can demonstrate how your product or service can provide a solution, or you can present client testimonials through an interview!

Marketing with Videos on social media also gains more click-throughs and “likes” than images alone.

However, as with using good quality images, make sure that your videos are of good quality too – it’s better to focus on one great video than lots of unsatisfactory ones, read our tips in this blog on creating an engaging video, and don’t forget to reach your target the right way, you don’t want all your good efforts to go to waste if your audience can’t see your video!

4 – Using Memes & Captioned Images

Now stop and think… Describe a meme that you recently came across and why you remembered it. It was probably funny, right? Was it an animal, or someone famous, or a screenshot out of a movie?

Memes have the potential to circulate like wildfire. When done right, it can really give your business exposure a good boost. People love to share a laugh, and social media is your opportunity.

Do remember to pick your captioned image with consideration, while many things are funny, pay attention that the captions are not rude, offensive, or inappropriate for your audience. Also, just because it’s making you laugh, doesn’t mean it suits your business, the content still needs to be relevant.

Now that we’ve shown you some ways to get started with visual content, let us remind you again: make sure your visual content is of good quality.

Low resolution, ill-designed, or bland visual content will get you nowhere or even cause damage. If visual imagery creation is not your forte, look for a graphic designer to help you come up with visual content that matches your branding.
